When does the school year start in England?

The start date of study in the UK depends on the institution and program to which the student enrolled, as well as the semester or trimester.

Let's start by looking at boarding schools and international colleges. If we are talking about the beginning of the school year, the standard arrival date for students depends on the institution, but usually this is the first or second week of September. The first one and a half to two weeks is usually called an induction week (introductory week): they are created specifically so that all college or school students can adapt to the new environment, remember where classes and sports sections are located, so that they can choose the subjects that they will study.

Since the school system in Great Britain is usually a trimester, in some educational institutions it is possible to start training in the second or third trimester, that is, to join the group after the "official" start. The second trimester begins in the second or third week of January, and the third trimester begins in mid-April.

Children finish their studies in mid or late June, after which they can go home for the holidays.

If we are talking about higher educational institutions, then there are two standard dates for the start of training:

Autumn intake: late September-early October
Winter intake: the second-third week of January.

In both cases, training lasts 9 months, but if it starts in January, students study until the end of August and they do not have summer holidays.
